Handsome Hounds is owned and run by myself, Sue Duffill. I am a professionally trained Canine Beautician with over 28 years experience in grooming , handling and behaviour.

I offer a one to one service tailored to the needs of each individual pet using positive reinforcement based methods.

Your dog will be treated with gentle care and respect to ensure a pleasurable grooming experience in a safe, clean and relaxed environment. Being the sole groomer at Handsome Hounds enables me to get to know each individual dog and their own personality and special requirements. In return, your dog benefits greatly from consistency and routine.

I  am also trained in Canine First Aid.

After growing up with dogs (and various other animals), I started my career working with dogs at a local boarding kennels.  Then, in 1994, upon completion of my training at The London Academy of Grooming Canine Comforts, I set up my grooming business initially working from a converted garage at home.  As business rapidly grew it soon became apparent that bigger premises were needed.

After a lot of searching I found the ideal premises here at Spernal Ash in Studley  The salon is in an excellent location set back off the busy A435 between Studley and Alcester and is really easy to find with easy access parking. To keep up to date with the latest grooming techniques and equipment I attend regular grooming seminars and dog shows.  

I have designed the purpose built salon to be all open plan and the grooming area is highly visible, your dog gets to watch the world go by whilst being pampered. It is important to me that your dog enjoys their grooming session and feels relaxed.  I keep the numbers of dogs here at any one time as low as possible and they only stay for as long as it takes to be groomed. I find this is the way to a calm environment which helps reduce any anxiety your dog may have.

Your dog's grooming session will be tailored to suit the individual and will take into account any personal preferences you may have with regards to styling and coat length.

 I have a varied range of premium shampoos which are natural, soap and chemical free, that really are the best quality dog grooming products you can get.  This way I can ensure great results with gentle shampoo's that won't irritate your dog's skin. So whether your dog's skin is sensitive, flaky, or dry, or his coat is greasy, knotty or extra dirty, I will choose the most suitable shampoo for the best results.
